America’s Dominance: USA Takes Top Spot on Medal Standings after Winning Two Golds at World Aquatic Championships

USA Dominates with Two Gold Medals and Five Total Medals

The United States took home the top spot on the medal standings at the 2024 World Aquatic Championships after winning two golds on night two. Nic Fink captured gold in the men’s 100 breast, while Kate Douglass won gold in the women’s 200 IM. The US also leads the total medal count with five medals, including two silvers and one bronze.

Germany earned their first gold medal of the competition and first women’s world title in 15 years as Angelina Kohler won gold in the women’s 100 fly. Portugal made history by becoming their country’s first World Champion ever with Diogo Ribeiro winning gold in the men’s 50 butterfly.

Australia currently holds the top spot on the medal table after capturing 13 golds and a total of 25 medals at the end of day two. They will search for their first gold on night three after coming up short so far.
