Biden Urges Netanyahu for a Humane Approach in Rafah Military Operation”.

Biden lays out conditions for Netanyahu as tension rises between US and Israel after attack on Rafah

During a crucial conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Joe Biden expressed his concerns over the military operation in Rafah. He emphasized the need for a credible and executable plan to ensure the safety and support of over a million people taking refuge there. The White House also announced that Biden requested urgent and specific measures to increase humanitarian assistance to innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

The phone call between Biden and Netanyahu took place at a time when there is growing division between the United States and Israel, particularly over the potential operation in Rafah. The Washington Post reported that Biden and his administration are closer to a break with Netanyahu on the war in Gaza and no longer consider him a productive partner who can be influenced in private.

In response to growing concerns, Netanyahu has stated that Israeli forces are working on a plan to create safe passage for Palestinian civilians to leave Rafah. He has also emphasized that victory requires Israeli security control and responsibility over the entire area west of the Jordan River, including the Gaza Strip. However, he remains optimistic about the potential for victory and demilitarization of the strip, stating it as a difficult battle but one they are winning. He also affirms that Israeli security control will always be present and if necessary, there will be a presence within Gaza.
