Birmingham Stallions Kick off UFL Season with Victory over Arlington Renegades

Two years ago, Matt Corral was highly touted as one of the top quarterback prospects heading into the NFL draft. Fast forward to today, he led the Birmingham Stallions to a road victory in the first game of the UFL season. The Stallions, who were the champions of the USFL in 2023, defeated the XFL-champion Arlington Renegades with a score of 27-14.

Corral, who was a third-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2022, had a solid performance in the game. He completed 12 of 21 passes for 201 yards, including one touchdown pass and one interception. Additionally, he contributed 25 rushing yards on four carries to help secure the victory.

Despite trailing Arlington 11-3 until the end of the second quarter, Corral connected with receiver Deon Cain for a 39-yard touchdown pass to shift the momentum in favor of the Stallions. Birmingham managed to pull away in the second half, finishing the game with an impressive 409 yards from scrimmage compared to Arlington’s 262.

Looking ahead, the Stallions will travel to face the Michigan Panthers in their next game, while the Renegades will take on the Battlehawks in St. Louis. This win sets a strong tone for Birmingham as they aim to continue their success in the UFL season.
