Breaking Barriers: The Connecticut Science Center’s Women in Science Initiative Encourages Girls to Pursue STEM Paths

Women in Optics: Exploring the Role of Women in Science

On Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Connecticut Science Center located at 250 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT 06103, USA, representatives from Zygo Corp will be leading a Women in Science program. The program will focus on exploring how a beam of light travels through various optic lenses and is part of the Connecticut Science Center’s Women in Science initiative.

The Women in Science initiative hosted by the Connecticut Science Center has a mission to encourage girls and young women to pursue studies and career paths in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and celebrate the achievements of women in the sciences. This initiative seeks to bridge the gender gap in STEM by developing original programming to engage girls in science and build a community of women in the sciences.

Furthermore, the Women in Science Vision of the Connecticut Science Center’s initiative is to envision a society in which women and girls are widely represented and supported in their pursuit of STEM—as learners, teachers, and professionals. This vision aims to create an environment where women and girls feel supported and encouraged to pursue paths and careers in STEM fields.
