China’s Divers Sweep Medals at 2022 World Championships: Yang Hao Wins Ninth Gold Medal in Diving Events

China’s Yang secures ninth diving gold medal at world championships

In Qatar, Chinese divers have claimed a total of 13 medals, including seven golds. Before the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, China had only won one gold medal in artistic swimming in the past 18 editions of the world championships. However, since then, the country has won four golds in Budapest and three in Fukuoka, Japan last year.

On Saturday at the World Aquatics Championships, Yang Hao secured China’s ninth gold medal in diving events with a score of 564.05 points. This was his first individual world title, beating compatriot and Olympic champion Cao Yuan into second place by just over two points. Ukraine’s Oleksii Sereda came third.

The high diving competition begins on Tuesday during the final week of the championships, with two more golds up for grabs. The Paris Olympics run from July 26 to August 11.
