Portland law firm Bernstein Shur has appointed Pawel Binczyk as a shareholder in their labor and employment, litigation and dispute resolution, and food and beverage practice groups. Binczyk has also served as general counsel for the Maine Army National Guard. David Dyer has recently joined law firm Verrill in their Portland office as an associate in the intellectual property group, after working as a patent attorney in Minnesota and in general practice at Pierce Atwood.

Niky Dwin Watler Amaris and Martha Leonard, owners of Maiz in Portland, were awarded the Maine and New England Minority Owned Small Business of the Year Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Studio Choo11 in Scarborough was recognized as Maine Home-Based Business of the Year, and Belle Cove in Portland received the Maine Small Business Exporter of the Year award. Gary Bergeron, an executive director and financial adviser at Morgan Stanley’s wealth management office, has been named to the firm’s President’s Club for top financial advisers. Additionally, several practice groups at Morgan Stanley were recognized in Forbes Magazine’s Best In-State Wealth Management Teams, including the Blakeman/Mavor Group, Downeast Group, Doolan/Eldredge Group, and the Breakwater Group. Portside Real Estate Group was honored with the Diamond Award from Leading Real Estate Companies of the World at the LeadingRE annual conference.
