Crawfordville residents achieving health goals with the help of new exercise equipment

In 2022, the Wakulla County Health Department reported a 74 percent obesity rate in the county. To combat this issue, newly installed exercise equipment is available for neighbors in the county to use for free. This equipment is helping residents kickstart their journey to better health. By watching the provided video, you can see where the equipment is located and learn how it is helping neighbors set new health goals.

The exercise equipment is located at Azalea Park in Crawfordville, providing a free and fun way for residents to be active. Residents like Vicki Eichmiller and her family have been taking advantage of the equipment as a way to workout and relax. This equipment not only encourages physical activity but also fosters community interaction and neighborly connections.

The project was initiated by the Wakulla County Department of Health as part of their minority health plan to support minority populations in the area. The aim is to help residents reduce high blood pressure, and the equipment at the park serves as a starting point for neighbors to engage in physical activity. The easy-to-use equipment is designed to be accessible to all, regardless of fitness level or physical constraints.

High obesity rates in the county can lead to various health issues such as high blood pressure and type two diabetes. By promoting physical activity through initiatives like the exercise equipment at the park, residents like Andy Riddle are encouraged to prioritize their health and well-being. The equipment provides a simple way for individuals of all fitness levels to incorporate physical activity into their daily routine.

In addition to using the exercise equipment, residents can also join the Wakulla Wellness Task Force to get involved in promoting a healthy lifestyle and community wellness. Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month, providing an opportunity for community members to come together and support each other in their health goals.
