Derrick Henry’s Message to Doubters: Just Keep Watching

Derrick Henry celebrated his 30th birthday in January, sparking conversations about the decline many running backs face once they reach that age. However, despite this concern, the Ravens have expressed confidence in Henry’s abilities. The team signed him as a free agent this week, with General Manager Eric DeCosta praising Henry as a “unicorn” due to his unique combination of speed, power, and durability.

At a press conference, Henry addressed skeptics who doubt his ability to maintain his performance at an elite level now that he is 30. He responded by saying, “Tell them to keep watching.” He acknowledged that people will always have opinions, but he is focused on working hard, starting fresh, and contributing to the Ravens organization in the best way possible.

In the previous offseason, the Ravens prioritized upgrading their receiving corps to support Lamar Jackson, who went on to win the MVP award. Despite Jackson’s success, the team did not meet their postseason goals. With Henry now on the roster, there is optimism that his skillset can help push the Ravens to success in the upcoming season. The team hopes that Henry’s addition will be the missing piece needed to advance further in the playoffs and achieve their ultimate goal.
