Lakeland Community College in Kirtland is hosting several free-to-the-public events for prospective students interested in health care careers this spring. The highlight of the season will be the Health Programs Open House, which is scheduled for April 4 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Health Technologies (H) Building and learn about programs for direct patient care and behind-the-scenes administrative or laboratory work.
Lakeland boasts high job placement rates in the health care industry and offers training for high-demand careers, with some programs placing students into the workforce in as little as eight weeks. Prospective students can explore the 21 program offerings at these events, including health information management/medical coding, histotechnology, medical assisting, occupational therapy assisting, and surgical technology.
The campus is located at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland, and while registration is recommended, walk-ins are welcome. Regina Prosser, dean of health technologies at Lakeland Community College says that these events are an excellent opportunity for prospective students to speak directly with faculty who can help identify a field of interest out of the various program offerings.
