On 14 February, we are introducing a new series of thought-provoking discussions about science culture called “Taboos and tricky topics”. Join us to listen to perspectives from members of the chemistry community and share your own thoughts.
Our Vision for a great science culture, launched last year, outlined the behaviors, values, expectations, attitudes, and norms of a positive science community. Creating a positive science culture will require a collective effort from the entire community and will not be without its challenges. We have developed this series to address those challenges head-on.
The first discussion in our series will focus on the conflict between advancing a research career and dedicating time to improving aspects of science culture. We’ll hear from individuals at different career stages and backgrounds about their experiences with this conflict and how they’ve navigated it. This is an opportunity for you to share your own opinions through our questions and comments board, which allows for anonymous submissions.
To participate in the conversation, visit our YouTube channel or LinkedIn page at 4pm UK time on 14 February. You can also submit your questions and comments at any time leading up to the discussion. For more information about our series and how you can get involved, visit our website.
