Fire Causes Shutdown of Part of Business Loop 70 | Latest News in Mid-Missouri

The Columbia Fire Department was called to a commercial structure fire in the 800 block of North Boulevard at 3:45 a.m. on Friday. Heavy fire and smoke were visible coming from the building. Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Jenkins stated that upon arrival, the fire was upgraded to a second alarm due to potential risks to nearby structures. The fire was brought under control within about an hour.

Part of Business Loop 70 East near Range Line Street had to be closed while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, the building is considered a total loss according to Jenkins. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire.
