Alica Schmidt, a German track star known for her striking looks and impressive athletic achievements, has recently revealed that she turned down a lucrative sponsorship deal from a well-known brand. During an interview with the OMR podcast, Schmidt explained that her lack of complete enthusiasm for the brand was the reason behind her rejection. With over five million Instagram followers and a sponsorship deal with BOSS, Schmidt already has a strong presence in the world of sports sponsorships.
As a member of the German national team, Schmidt has seen her fair share of sponsorship deals. She previously mentioned that members of the team receive around $739 per month from Sporthilfe, a sponsorship organization for athletes. Despite the missed opportunity, Schmidt remains focused on making the German Olympic team for the Paris Olympics in the summer.
In reflecting on her rigorous training regimen, Schmidt discussed the emotional and physical toll it takes on her as an athlete. She emphasized the satisfaction that comes with pushing herself beyond her limits and achieving progress. Schmidt’s athletic success includes being a part of Germany’s silver medal performance in the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships and winning a bronze medal in the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships.
