Greenfield business experiences loss due to fire.

A fire broke out at Greenfield Marble Shop on a Saturday afternoon, resulting in the loss of a commercial business. The Greenfield Fire Department received a call about the fire around 4:30 in the afternoon and responded to the scene with other departments including Sharon, Bradford, and Dresden. Pumpers from Gibson County also arrived to help. Approximately 60-thousand gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire.

Bob Dudley, the Greenfield Fire Chief, reported that the fire caused the shop to be a total loss. Out of the nine structures on the property, three were destroyed by the blaze. Chief Dudley estimated the damage to be over a million dollars, making it the first major loss for the owner. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries among the firemen who responded to the scene.
