International influencers are impressed by the technology-empowered Xi’an

Actresses adorned in the military attire of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) can be seen patrolling the Xi’an City Wall Scenic Area in Shaanxi province, captured in a photograph taken on Nov 28, 2023. The city wall, dating back 600 years to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is renowned in Chinese history as one of the best-preserved ancient city walls. It has been enhanced with cutting-edge digital technologies to attract global travelers from around the world. LoT sensing devices and non-destructive testing equipment have been utilized to inspect the wall for potential hazards, creating a database that allows for artificial intelligence analysis covering several scenarios for cultural preservation, cultural tourism, flood prevention, and emergency response.

A group of international influencers explored the charms of Xi’an two days before the World Internet Conference (WIC) Digital Silk Road Development Forum. Their destinations included the Xi’an ancient city wall and the Xi’an Museum. The Xi’an Museum collaborated with Alibaba Yuanjing to apply metaverse technology, creating an immersive cultural tourism and museum experience that combines real-time cloud rendering, interactive 3D content, and precious cultural relics. This metaverse world allows visitors to immerse themselves and interact with the cultural artifacts on display.

The influencers’ visit was part of the events leading up to the WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum, hosted by the WIC and organized by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province. The forum, themed “Connectivity and Shared Prosperity,” will take place on April 16 and will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors, experts from academic circles, to discuss topics such as digital infrastructure and capacity building, digital cultural exchanges, cross-border e-commerce cooperation, digital technology in agricultural production, and enhancing rural governance.
