Last month, Lakewood Health System in Staples announced the completion of their new 19,270 square-foot addition to the Lakewood Cancer Center by summer 2025. The state-of-the-art facility will be located just southwest of the clinic and will provide much-needed space for the growing oncology team and services.
Over the past two years, Lakewood’s oncology team and services have experienced rapid growth, coupled with a steady increase in provider coverage. This expansion was necessary to accommodate the growing demand for cancer treatment options in rural areas like Staples.
The new Cancer Center will feature 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other advanced equipment to provide patients with cutting-edge cancer care. Having such a facility in a rural setting is unprecedented and will greatly benefit both patients and healthcare workers.
In addition to providing top-notch cancer care, the Cancer Center will also include a dedicated reception and waiting area for patients, as well as oncology case managers located within the new space for easy access to patients.
