Local News: Hamilton County Health Department Unveils 2024 Health Assessment.

The Hamilton County Health Department has recently published the 2024 Picture of Our Health Community Health Assessment. This report, released every 4-5 years, focuses on eight key factors crucial to the overall health of Hamilton County residents. These factors include access to health care and health care coverage, environmental health, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, mental health, injuries, substance abuse, and vulnerable populations.

The report offers a comprehensive analysis of the health status of Hamilton County residents. In the following years, the Health Department and Regional Health Council will collaborate to develop strategies aimed at improving the community’s health and well-being, identifying health priorities, and involving community members in addressing these issues. The Health Department’s Epidemiology Department plans to release further informational materials expanding on the topics covered in A Picture of Our Health. Additionally, a data dashboard will be developed and published to provide the community with up-to-date and accurate local health information.

Dr. Dawn Ford, the Manager of the Epidemiology Department, believes that the 175-page assessment will help in devising ways to reduce the prevalence of these diseases. Dr. Ford’s goal is to motivate behavioral changes among residents, such as engaging in more physical activity, adopting healthier eating habits, and quitting smoking.
