In a recent interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, actor Mark Ruffalo confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World. Ruffalo expressed his excitement for the project and stated that it will be “great.”
The fourth mainline Captain America film is still in development, but it has been confirmed that some major characters will be making appearances. Anthony Mackie will feature prominently as Captain America himself, while Harrison Ford will take on the role of Thaddeus Ross after William Hurt’s passing in 2022.
Ruffalo’s return as the Hulk could potentially lead to the introduction of the Red Hulk, given his long history with Bruce Banner and Thaddeus Ross’ eventual transformation into the Red Hulk in some storylines. After taking a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a few years, Ruffalo has been working on non-superhero films like I Know This Much Is True, The Adam Project, and Poor Things. However, he has also made sporadic appearances in MCU-related projects like She-Hulk and What If…? His last Marvel film role was in Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Marvel has also released the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine. Fans eagerly await more information about how this film will fit into the broader MCU narrative.
