Maryland Terrapins Beat Rutgers Scarlet Knights 4-1 – University of Maryland Athletics

The No. 52 Maryland Terrapins had a successful match against Rutgers, defeating them 4-1 in their first of two matches on Saturday. Selma Cadar and Kallista Liu started the match strong with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match, followed by Minorka Miranda and Maria Budin winning the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, securing the doubles point for Maryland. This gave them a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Maryland continued to dominate in singles matches, with Selma Cadar winning the No. 1 singles match and Kallista Liu winning her third straight singles match. Rutgers managed to get on the board by winning the No. 6 singles match, but Maria Budin sealed the victory for Maryland with a hard-fought win in the No. 4 singles match.

With this victory, Maryland improved their home record to 9-1. Looking at the breakdown of the action, in doubles play, Selma Cadar and Kallista Liu won the No. 2 doubles match, while Minorka Miranda and Maria Budin secured the No. 1 doubles match. In singles, Selma Cadar, Kallista Liu, and Maria Budin all secured wins for Maryland, with Rutgers managing to win one singles match.

The Terps will now prepare to face George Mason in their next match at 4 PM.
