New Chair of Saint Louis Science Center Board of Commissioners: Mark S. Wrighton Brings Expertise and Passion for Science Education

Wrighton appointed as chair of Science Center board at The Source

Mark S. Wrighton, a distinguished professor and former chancellor at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed as the chair of the Saint Louis Science Center’s board of commissioners. His term began on January 1st.

In this role, Wrighton works closely with the president of the Science Center to improve the institution. The Science Center is dedicated to making science, technology, engineering, and math accessible to the St. Louis region and beyond through interactive experiences. It is one of the few free nonprofit science museums in the country and attracts nearly half a million visitors each year, making it one of the largest science centers in the U.S. and abroad.

Wrighton brings a wealth of experience to this new role. Before his time in university administration, he had notable research achievements in photochemistry, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry. He also previously served as a member of the Science Center’s board of commissioners and for many years as a member of its board of trustees.
