In the Bronx, a shooting occurred on an elevated train platform at a New York City subway station around 4:30 p.m. (local time) on Monday. The shooting resulted in the death of one person and injuries to five others.
A witness, Efrain Feliciano, told the Daily News that he saw sparks when the bullets hit the wall. According to Feliciano, there were at least six shots fired during the incident.
Police are searching for the gunman who fled the scene following the shooting. Four of the five injured victims were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, police said. A fire department spokesman added that a young man was killed in the incident.
The shooting took place at a time when many people were returning home from school and beginning their evening commutes. The train station filled with children and parents making their way home from school, adding to the chaos and confusion of the situation.
While police have not yet provided any further details about what happened or who was involved, they are continuing their search for suspects in connection with the shooting.
