Panthers renegotiate Ian Thomas’ contract

The Panthers have made moves to create cap space by releasing center Bradley Bozeman and restructuring the contract of tight end Ian Thomas. Bozeman’s release will free up cap space, while Thomas will remain with the team after adjusting his contract. The specifics of the restructure have not been disclosed, but it is likely similar to last year when Thomas took a pay cut to stay in Carolina.

Thomas is entering the final year of his contract and was due to receive a $1.5 million bonus. This restructuring will allow the Panthers to keep Thomas on the roster while managing their salary cap. In addition to Bozeman and Thomas, cornerback Donte Jackson and tight end Hayden Hurst are also set to leave the team.

Thomas has been with the Panthers for six seasons and has recorded 116 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in his career. His experience and contributions to the team make him a valuable asset for Carolina moving forward.
