Protecting Civilians: Biden Announces Ceasefire Talks in Gaza Strip and the Urgent Need for Peace in Rafah

Biden seeks at least a six-week ceasefire in Gaza through negotiations

The US President Joe Biden has announced that negotiations are underway to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, lasting at least six weeks, to release hostages. During a joint press conference with the King of Jordan at the White House, it was discussed that civilians in the town of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, need protection.

Biden emphasized the importance of protecting civilians in Rafah and revealed that Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the country’s military forces to prepare for a ground attack on Rafah. This move has raised concerns for up to one million Palestinians living in the region.
