RV Chamber introduces new travel business and seafood festival

Matia J Travels, a home-based business founded by Matia James out of her love for the Caribbean, was welcomed by the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the chamber’s headquarters on Roanoke Avenue. Since 2017, she has been sharing her expertise and booking flight and land packages, as well as cruises to the Caribbean.

In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the chamber is also hosting their third seafood festival on Saturday, March 9, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion located at 717 American Legion Road in Roanoke Rapids. Tickets for the event are $60 per adult and $20 for children under 10. The festival will be catered by Washington Crab House and will feature steamed shrimp, steamed oysters, fried fish, barbecue sliders, cole slaw, green beans, and hushpuppies. There will also be sweet and unsweetened tea available, as well as alcoholic beverages for those 21 and older with identification. Mrs. Mini and the Sandman Band will be performing.
