Science Fair Returns to Cunha Intermediate School: A Celebration of Student Curiosity and Hard Work

Community Welcomes Back Students to Cunha Science Fair

The annual Science Fair at Cunha Intermediate School was a significant event as students, parents, and volunteer judges gathered in the school’s gym for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. In the 2020-21 school year, the fair was made optional and only 10 students participated as the school went remote.

For two years, students presented their projects through powerpoint slideshows. This year marked a shift back to normal as students showcased their work through poster boards. The efforts of the science teachers at the middle school were evident in the wide variety of scientific studies on display, ranging from the strength of different brands of dental floss to whether teachers could distinguish assignments written by students or artificial intelligence.

Cunha science teacher Kurt Murray expressed his excitement at the return to normal, stating, “We’re finally bringing the community back to the event.” Coastside News Group photographer Anna Hoch-Kenney captured the event in the gallery above. The fair was a testament to the students’ hard work and curiosity in the field of science.
