Security camera footage captures break-in at downtown Bakersfield business leading to arrest of suspect

In downtown Bakersfield, a burglar was captured on security cameras breaking into a business, but police acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect. The Bakersfield Police Department shared footage of the burglary and subsequent arrest on social media.

According to police, the incident took place on March 28 around 11:30 p.m. Officers responded to a call about a burglary in progress at a business located in the 2200 block of E Street. An officer arrived at the scene and discovered the suspect still inside the building.

Surveillance footage from inside the business showed the suspect smashing items and appearing to steal eyeglasses. The suspect also noticed a camera and attempted to disable it. Despite being ordered to leave the building, the suspect tried to flee. However, the police apprehended the suspect shortly after.
