The Giants have added a major piece to their free-agent acquisition list with the signing of outfielder Jorge Soler. According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, the three-year contract was agreed upon by San Francisco and Soler on Monday night.
Soler, 31, had an outstanding 2023 MLB season with the Miami Marlins, hitting 36 home runs with a .250/.341/.512 slash line. Slusser reports that Soler’s deal is pending a physical, but based on recent signings, it is likely to be in the $12-17 million range per year.
In addition to his impressive performance on the field, Soler also earned World Series MVP honors with the Atlanta Braves in 2021. During a six-game series win over the Houston Astros, he hit .300 with three home runs and six RBI’s. The Giants, who were in need of some much-needed power in their lineup, have achieved just that with the signing of Soler.
