U.S. Rep Terri Sewell Delivers $9.2 Million in Federal Funding to Expand Maternity Care in Alabama

Sewell to allocate federal funding for the expansion of maternal health services, delivering millions in support

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, is set to deliver a total of $9.2 million in federal funding to two organizations in the state of Alabama today. At 10 a.m. CST, Rep. Sewell will present a check for $8.8 million to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing, which will be utilized over a five-year period to increase access to maternity care. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Integrated Maternal Health Services Program.
