Marco Odermatt Continues Dominant Giant Slalom Streak at Bansko in Alpine Ski World Cup 2023/2024

Swiss skier Marco Odermatt continued his dominance in the giant slalom event, securing his ninth consecutive win in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. This latest victory comes after a successful season that saw him win six out of six races. Odermatt defeated Norway’s Alexander Steen Olsen by 0.91 seconds, bringing his total race wins for the season to 10.

In the opening run, Odermatt led Steen Olsen by 0.35 seconds, but he continued to assert his dominance by finishing third-fastest on the second descent. Austrian slalom ace Manuel Feller completed the podium, finishing just over a second behind the winner.

After the race, Odermatt praised the hill and skiing conditions, calling them challenging and requiring careful strategy. He attributed his success in the second run to his readiness to push himself and credited his excellent performance on skis to both his high level of confidence and exceptional equipment.

Odermatt’s impressive season has earned him a place on the podium in 16 out of 18 World Cup races, nearly guaranteeing him a third consecutive big Crystal Globe. With one more slalom event left on Sunday, Feller will aim to improve upon his third-place finish in giant slalom and challenge Odermatt for supremacy in this exciting competition.

Overall, Marco Odermatt has had an unstoppable season so far, with nine consecutive wins under his belt. His exceptional performance has put him atop of the leaderboard with 1,506 points ahead of French skier Cyprien Sarrazin.
