Your Health – Present and Future

The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific is organizing a webinar series called “Your Health – Today and Tomorrow,” with the goal of engaging in meaningful discussions about key health priorities in the region while looking towards the future. The series will focus on topics such as primary healthcare for universal health coverage, the impact of climate change on health, preparing for future pandemics, addressing health inequities using technology, and more. By incorporating these important areas into the conversations, the webinars aim to gather insights and diverse perspectives from senior experts, WHO staff, and real-life experiences to shape the future of health in the Western Pacific Region.

The inaugural webinar in the series will tackle Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) in the region, with a particular focus on the social and commercial determinants of health and their potential impact on NCDs moving forward. The discussion will also explore potential pathways towards a healthier and more resilient Western Pacific. The event is scheduled for March 22, 2024 (Friday) from 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM Manila Time (GMT+8).

Dr. Susan Mercado, the Director of Programme Management at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, will moderate the webinar. The speakers for this event include Dr. Gade Waqa, Co-Chair of the WHO Western Pacific Region Technical Advisory Group on NCD Prevention and Control, Ms. Sara Damore, a Consultant at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, and Robert Oliver, the Executive Director and Founder of the Pacific Island Food Revolution.
